In a recent piece in the Harvard Business Review titled “Want Innovative Thinking?: Hire from the Humanities” a student commenter made an excellent remark. S/he said:
“As a current undergraduate, I see the balance between critical thinking and memorization spread across the curriculum. I began as a science major and am currently in the humanities. It is true that my science courses left little, if any, room for critical thinking and interactivity. But there are initiatives, including general ed required courses, to bring these skills to all disciplines. What is lacking is the guidance to connect what you may learn in a required humanities class back to your major.”
What programs or projects have you created or do you know of that provide this guidance?
